Background Details
Coffee was introduced to Indonesia through the Dutch occupation during the 1700s. Nearly 200 years later, coffee arrived in the region of “Benner Meriah” in the Gayo Highlands. Many farms are found on this breathtaking island.
The region owns the right to grow Gayo Coffee, a registered classification and globally preserved. No other region has the right to grow this unique type of coffee.
The coffee beans are grown at altitudes up to 1700 meters above sea level, making them the appropriate and required altitudes for coffee cultivation.
The flavors have the famous depth and texture of Sumatra coffees, rich with a firm earthy herbal flavor that mimics the bitterness of natural cocoa.
